The Shimanami Kaido is now one of Japan’s hottest travel spots. The Setouchi Inland Sea where the Shimanami Kaido located is famous for its calm waters, scenic islands, and historic towns, and it has long been an important cultural and economic route in Japan.
Setouchi is known for its mild climate, making it ideal for cycling, island-hopping, and cruising.
Hiroshima is a must-visit destination in western Japan, known for its moving history and message of peace. Explore the Peace Memorial Park, visit the iconic Atomic Bomb Dome, and take a ferry to nearby Miyajima Island to see the famous floating torii gate. Don’t miss tasting local Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki!

Cycle the scenic Shimanami and Tobishima Kaidō routes over four days, starting in Onomichi and ending in Imabari. Stay in stylish waterfront and glamping accommodations, enjoy local cuisine, and explore coastal islands, historic ports, and iconic bridges with expert guides along the way.
Then continue toa peaceful journey through Hiroshima and Miyajima: Visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, stay overnight on Miyajima Island, and explore its iconic shrines and scenic views.

Welcome to Tokyo! Make your own way to your hotel in Tokyo by train or Airport Limousine Bus, we will provide full instructions in advance.

Tokyo
Morning: Begin your day with a private guided tour of the Imperial Palace. Stroll through its meticulously landscaped grounds while learning about the history of the Imperial Family. Continue to Asakusa Kannon Temple, a vibrant place of worship home to Japan’s largest paper lantern. Just beyond the temple’s outer gates, explore Nakamise Market, a historic shopping street lined with traditional shops and stalls.
Afternoon: Enjoy Free time your own.
Tokyo - Kyoto
Start the day with a journey on the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Kyoto, Japan’s historic and cultural heart. For over 1,000 years, Kyoto has shaped the nation’s politics, traditions, and arts.
After your arrival, you’ll have free time to explore on your own. We recommend visiting places like Kiyomizu-dera Temple or Fushimi Inari Shrine not far from the hotel.
For dinner, we are happy to provide recommendations and assist with reservations based on your preferences.
Kyoto

Kyoto-Onomichi
You arrive in Onomichi by rail, and check into your hotel. Your accommodation is a stylishly renovated warehouse on the waterfront, designed with cyclists in mind.
Why don't you try "Onomichi Ramen" for supper? Onomichi Ramen is a popular local ramen from Onomichi City in Hiroshima Prefecture. It's known for its soy-sauce based broth, which is typically made with a dashi (soup stock) from small fish from the Seto Inland Sea and often also includes chicken bones.
Shimanami Kaidō
After breakfast (included), you meet your first guide and cycle the Shimanami Kaidō for about 40 km to Ōmishima Island.
Lunch (not included) is at a local restaurant.
Your accommodation for the next two nights is a seaside glamping facility with a striking view of one of the bridges.
Dinner (included) is at your accommodation.
Tobishima Kaidō
After breakfast, you cycle about 20 km on Ōmishima to the port and take the ferry to Okamura Island, where you meet your second guide. Then you cycle some of the scenic Tobishima Kaidō, visiting the historic port of Mitarai. The total ride is about 60 km, but it can be adjusted for length.
Lunch (not included) is at a local restaurant.
You return to your accommodation on Ōmishima where dinner is served.
Shimanami Kaidō
After breakfast, you cycle the remainder of the Shimanami Kaidō to Imabari city, a ride of about 40 km. For a longer ride, you can opt to visit Ōyamazumi Shrine.
Take a Lunch at a local restaurant on your own.
Your accommodation is a luxurious tower hotel in Imabari city with fine views over the Seto Inland Sea. Dinner (included) is at your accommodation.
Imabari - Hiroshima
After the breakfast at hotel, take a Highway Bus from Imabari Station to Hiroshima Bus Center.
After arriving Hiroshima, meet a guide and will be visiting the Peace Memorial Park, which was built in the aftermath of the atomic bomb. The park symbolizes the hope for a world without nuclear weapons. From the park you can see the Atomic Bomb Dome, one of the very few surviving structures from the attack.
Miyajima
In the afternoon we will explore Miyajima, an island near Hiroshima. Located on the island is Itsukushima Shrine, which is known for its large torii gate that is built in the sea.
At high tide, the famed vermilion torii gate of the Itsukushima Shrine looks like it's floating in the middle of the sea. The shrine complex is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Miyajima has been selected as one of Japan's three most scenic places (nihon sankei).
It is said that they Itsukushima Shrine was first built in the 6th century at the foot of Mt. Misen as a place of worship for the holy mountain. The main deity of the shrine is the daughter of the mythical Susanoo and niece to the Great Sun Goddess Amaterasu.

After checking out of the hotel, we will arrange a transfer to the next gateway city upon your request.
