Where Heritage Meets Contemporary Tokyo
Nestled in the heart of Tokyo’s historic financial district, Hotel K5 is a stylish boutique hotel that blends Scandinavian-Japanese minimalism with deep local character. Housed in a beautifully renovated 1920s bank building, the hotel offers a modern sanctuary where guests can experience Tokyo’s rich past alongside its creative, evolving present.

Sensuous Hotel
K5 introduces the concept of a “Sensuous Hotel”, where each floor is designed to reflect a unique rhythm. The upper levels house tranquil guestrooms that promote relaxation, while the first and basement floors are energized by lively spaces such as the restaurant, bar, and café. This contrast creates a dynamic flow throughout the hotel, allowing guests to both unwind and feel inspired.
Each of the hotel’s 20 rooms features warm wooden textures, soft ambient lighting, curated books, and a record player. Custom-designed furniture and thoughtful details strike a balance between comfort and creativity, whether you’re staying in a cozy Studio or the expansive K5 Suite with its soaring 4.5-meter ceilings.
Aimai
The interiors of K5 were created by Claesson Koivisto Rune, a Swedish architecture and design studio. They drew inspiration from the Japanese concept of aimai (曖昧), which conveys a poetic sense of ambiguity and fluidity. At K5, this is expressed through the seamless transitions between spaces and the soft dissolution of boundaries.
For instance, the restaurant, wine bar, and café on the first floor share a large, open space defined by oversized furniture rather than walls. In the guestroom corridors, the same tile patterns continue into each room, creating a visual extension that blurs the line between public and private space.
Returning to Nature
Despite its central location in a business district, K5 thoughtfully incorporates elements of nature into its interiors. Planting directors from Yard Works have selected lush greenery tailored to each space, from hanging plants in guest rooms to statement foliage in shared areas. Natural textures and earthy tones further enhance the sense of calm.
This harmony between urban surroundings and natural design turns K5 into more than just a stylish space—it becomes a restorative, sensory-rich experience.
A Micro-Complex Designed for Discovery
K5 offers much more than just a place to stay. Its first and basement floors are home to a vibrant collection of food and drink venues curated for those who appreciate design, flavor, and creativity:
MARUYAMA–Centered around the Japanese bar, this project showcases regional sake, food, and tableware to share Japan’s unique flavors with the world. Blending the vibrant izakaya spirit with global creativity, it fosters a rich, collaborative food culture.
CAFE DANCE – serves more than just food—we create heart-pounding moments and everyday sparks of joy. Enjoy homemade waffles for brunch and natural wines with tapas in the evening.
B by the Brooklyn Brewery – The first flagship Brooklyn Brewery location in the world, featuring changing cultural content and signature beers
AKAI BAR – The red bar serves standard cocktails with a focus on Japanese whiskey and gin. Enjoy a blissful drink in a space surrounded by items curated by the fictional character, "Mr. Akai", a rare collector who has traveled the world.
